Pelion
Mount Pelion is situated near to the city of Volos, the highest peak is at the height of 1624 m. (summit Pourgianos Stavros)
According to greek mythology Mount Pelion was the summer residence of the 12 Olympian Gods.
All through the overgrown mountain there is a great variety of different trees. The mountain` s forests are full of beeches, oak trees, plane trees, wild chestnut trees, pine trees and firs. There are also, on lower grounds, apple trees, olive trees, fig trees and orange trees.
It is also remarkable that there are found plenty of springs, all along the mountain, as well as thousands of different kinds of herbs, like oregano, thyme, nettle, linden etc.
The whole area is a protected Natura habitat by the code number GR1430001.
